Mr Zaki Almallah

Mr Zaki Almallah MB ChB MD FRCS (Edinburgh) FRCS (Urology) is a Consultant Urological Surgeon and the lead urologist for urinary incontinence and complex bladder dysfunction at the University Hospital Birmingham/Queen Elizabeth Hospital since 2003.

His experience in Urology goes back to 1997 at the University of Aberdeen and Birmingham hospitals with several awards. He has a long list of scientific publications and guest lectures. He was a visiting Consultant at the University of Colorado Health Science Centre, USA and the University of Johannes Gutenberg, Mainz, Germany. He also provides consultancy work for the pharmaceutical industry and other specialist organisations.

Mr Zaki Almallah is a well recognised expert in the field of urological surgery in the West Midlands (bladder and prostate dysfunction, incontinence, keyhole surgery and laparoscopy as well as laser stone surgery) and with a large tertiary referral practice from the whole of Birmingham area as well as Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Staffordshire and beyond.

 

Mrs Michele Miletic

Mrs Michele MileticMichele Miletic MSc, is an advance nurse practitioner and continence adviser and the lead urology nurse specialist at the University Hospital Birmingham since 2002. She qualified as a registered nurse at the famous John Radcliff University Hospital, Oxford and in 1984. Michele moved to Birmingham and worked in general surgery for 3 years before taking up a position Urology Ward Sister in 1988. Completing a masters degree in advanced nurse practice (urology) at the University of Birmingham gave her the unique opportunity to expand her nursing knowledge and skills. In 1997 Michele developed autonomous nurse led clinics in New Cross Hospital, Wolverhampton performing full assessment, investigation, diagnosis and treatment. She has since further specialised in one stop clinics in, prostate assessment and assessment of erectile dysfunction. Further more her work in pelvic floor training using biofeedback techniques, teaching and support to patients is well recognised in the region of the West Midlands.

Mr Arunkalaivanan (Arun)

ArunMr Arun Arunkalaivanan MRCOG MD is a consultant gynaecologist and the lead for Urogynaecology and Urodynamics at Birmingham City Hospital since 2002. He is a member of the International Continence Society and the International Urogynecological Association as well as the British Society of Urogynaecologists. Mr Arun is an independent advisor for the National Prescription Agency (NPA).

Mr.Arun qualified in 1988 from the University of Madras, India and completed MD from the University of Bombay in 1994. He became a member of the Royal College of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists(RCOG), London in 1996 and trained in the Northwest region (Manchester) and further specialised in Urogynaecology and Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery at Torbay Hospital, Torquay in 2001.

Mr Arun has a wide experience in minimally invasive pelvic surgery and in the treatment of prolapse, urinary incontinence and pelvic pain.

Mr Peter Cooke

Peter CookeMr Peter Cooke MD FRCS (Urology) is a consultant urological surgeon at the Royal Wolverhampton Hospitals and a core member of the Black Country Specialist Cancer Team.

Having graduated from the University of Birmingham Medical School in 1989, he trained in urology in the West Midlands. Mr Cooke has undertaken basic and clinical research in advanced bladder and prostate cancer, cancer immunotherapy at the Cancer Research Campaign Institute for Cancer Studies at Birmingham University. He has been cited in Marquis Who’s Who in Science and Engineering in 2001 and was awarded the higher degree of Doctor of Medicine in 2001 by the University of Birmingham. He has numerous publications and presentations at national and international meetings.

Mr Cooke specialist interests include pelvic oncology and major pelvic cancer surgery for early prostate cancer and advanced bladder cancer.

The principal staff of the Bladder Clinic will make the appropriate referral to other specialists locally and nationally if required.
